Tomato ponderosa is an heirloom Italian variety and has small-sized fruits usually in yellow or red bunches. The pulp, almost seedless, is very hard and firm. Variety widely cultivated and resistant to transport in large plastic boxes. Tomatoes ponderosa are cultivated in any soil, even if they prefer soils full of organic substances. It prefers sunny soils and a good irrigation, especially in the summer and when ripening is about to take place. The plant requires a support during its growth. Possibility to grow both in the greenhouse and in open field. Once harvested, the bunch can be preserved by hanging for many months. Consumed either raw, in salads, or as a sauce for condiments.
